Welcome to our Blog

Over the last couple of months, we have wanted to develop and enhance our website so you can always find out what we have been up to. To do this, we have been working on updating the look of our main site as well as introducing a new blog site – this is where you will get the opportunity to find out more about us and our style of photography.

The last couple of months has also meant that we have had the privilege of photographing some beautiful weddings and have met some of the most amazing couples and guests. Recent weddings have taken place at the stunning venues of Peckforton Castle, Crewe Hall, Rookery Hall, Mottram Hall, Nunsmere Hall, Peover Golf Club and Crewe Golf Club to name but a few. All of which offer beautiful backdrops for our Wedding couples photographs.

Wedding Photographer Cheshire – Wedding Highlights of 2011

2011 was an exciting and really busy year for us; 60 weddings photographed, 60 fantastic couples whose weddings we had the pleasure of capturing and some amazing wedding venues.

This last year has seen us photographing weddings throughout Cheshire and the width and breadth of the whole North West; Manchester, Liverpool, Lancashire, Staffordshire and beyond – we were also very pleased to be shortlisted for the 2012 Wedding Industry Awards for the North West region.

We feel really humbled and honoured to have had the opportunity to meet some lovely Brides & Grooms and to have been able to capture their special day for them and would like to take this opportunity to thank them all.

We have included 1 wedding image from every wedding we did in 2011; this was not as easy as it sounds as there were some lovely wedding images to choose from and it was really difficult to limit it to only one photograph.

We hope you enjoy looking through the images as much as we did taking them (we have added a video link as well as posting the images)

Belle Epoque Wedding Photographer – David & Kat’s Wedding

As a wedding photographer in Cheshire, we were really pleased when David & Kat chose us as their Belle Epoque wedding photographer.

Belle Epoque is a unique and intimate wedding venue in Knutsford with great and quirky interior decor and features.

We arrived early afternoon to capture Kat’s bridal preps accompanied by her bridesmaid Mandy and Kat looked simply stunning in her Amanda Wyatt wedding gown. Amanda Wyatt creates some amazing wedding gowns and Kat’s dress was an extremely elegant and sophisticated example.

Then we were down to the Belle Epoque bar to to capture David and his groomsmen who all looked fantastic in dinner jackets and black tie . Unfortunately the weather was a little damp but it didn’t dampen anyones spirits – they had a fantastic day and we had lots of fun being their wedding photographer capturing them and their guests The wedding party danced the night away to a fabulous band until the early hours.

A lovely testimonial from David & Kat :

We would like to say a massive thank you for being so great, understanding, organised and such a good laugh. You were both wonderful and very professional. After we met at our house for the pre-wedding introductions we knew you would do a great job, more so following the meeting at the venue.

We really enjoyed you doing the photography and being around the whole day, blending into the background when appropriate and running the show when you could! Belle Époque commented on how good you were and I hope you took my advice and left your contact details for them to recommend you to future weddings. Some of our guests commented on how professional you both were and worked as a team to get the shots we required.

Will definitely be using you in the future for other photographic requirements, both personally and work based.

Wedding Industry Awards 2012 North West Finalist

SMH Photography is proud to be shortlisted in the 2012 Wedding Industry Awards for the North West region. The Awards will recognise and reward excellence in wedding suppliers across 19 categories, both regionally and nationally. More than 2000 wedding suppliers entered the Awards and more than 22,500 recently married couples voted for their suppliers and we are really pleased to be shortlisted in the North West Wedding Photographer section – a huge thank you to all of our previous Brides & Grooms who we have had the pleasure of working with who voted for us.

Statham Lodge Wedding Photographer – Dave & Hannah’s Wedding

As wedding photographers in Cheshire we were delighted to have the opportunity to photograph Dave & Hannah’s wedding at the wonderful Statham Lodge in Lymm, Cheshire. It was the perfect location for their wedding with its beautiful naturally lit rooms and stunning surrounding gardens.

We originally met Dave & Hannah back in 2010 when they booked us to capture their special Day at Statham Lodge in Cheshire and again in July 2011 where we talked about their plans and the possibility of holding their wedding ceremony outside in the Garden Terrace Gazebo for which they were both very excited about; unfortunately however the great British weather had other plans and presented us with a mixture of showers and sunshine. Airing on the side of caution, they decided to hold their wedding ceremony inside in the beautiful Shelley Suite.

Before long, the early rain soon cleared and we were able to capture some great images both outside and inside. Dave and Hannah were a really fantastic, fun couple who worked with us to capture some beautiful images. It was an absolute pleasure to be able to capture their special day for them.

Willington Hall Wedding Photographer – Andy & Cath’s Wedding

As wedding photographers in Cheshire we were delighted when Andy & Cath chose us to capture their wedding at one of our favourite wedding venues in Cheshire, Willington Hall. It was the perfect location for their wedding with its grand hall and beautiful gardens overlooking the Cheshire countryside.

It was a beautiful hot day which was a great start to what was a great wedding. We arrived with Cath early in the morning for her bridal preparations and for us to capture her stunning dress and rose bouquet. Just before we left her home to capture the boys at St Mary’s RC Church in Crewe, the wedding cars arrived……….. two amazing white VW Beetle Convertibles suitably dressed with purple wedding ribbons. These were the perfect cars for such a fun young couple as Andy & Cath are.

We met the boys at the church and had a great time capturing them – we even got to replicate the Beetles Abbey Road album cover, although stopping traffic in the centre of Crewe was a little unnervingluckily we timed the moment perfectly.

St Mary’s RC Church in Crewe, where Andy and Cath chose to hold there wedding ceremony, is a impressive building with an even more impressive and imposing interior. After the full mass ceremony, the guests all joined in to shower the happy couple with confetti on the church steps before they left in the VW Beetles to make their way to their wedding reception at Willington Hall.

The sun continued to shine throughout the day which gave everyone the opportunity to enjoy their drinks on the terrace and allowed the children to play in the gardens. Even the adults had fun playing with the swing ball and Jenga games which had been provided.

As dusk drew close and the sun began to set, Andy & Cath were only to willing to allow us to capture a beautiful sunset shot which they were proud to make a feature of in their beautiful wedding album that we created for them.

Just wanted to say a massive thank you we are so happy with all the pictures they are amazing! It is going to be a tough job trying to pick which ones we want for the album

Alot of our guests commented on how great you both were and you certainly made us feel very at ease on the day
