Weddings at WEst Tower
Photographing a wedding at West Tower was a total joy especially as we were reunited with previous clients. We met Kate and Ian when photographing Kate’s brother and then also Kate’s sister’s weddings previously. (So now we’ve shot the weddings of three of the five siblings and have also been booked to photograph one of Kate’s cousins. So it’s fair to say that the Taylor family are keeping us busy :).
The day of the wedding…
On the day we arrived early so we photograph everyone as they got ready. Ian, whose grooms’ party consisted of him, best man Simon and ushers – James, Peter, Michael, Paul and Alan, was getting ready at Ian and Kate’s home in Horwich.
Kate made her final preparations at her parent’s house in Standish and was in good hands with her parents on hand. Her bridesmaids consisted of her sister Sarah, sister-in-law Sara, and friends Vicky, Laura, Jodie and Nicola accompanied by three gorgeous flower girls.
Kate looked amazing in her Ronald Joyce dress that featured a sweetheart neckline, a crystal and sequinned waist and a full tulle skirt that gave her the most exquisite silhouette in our portrait shots. The dress was perfectly complimented with a bouquet created by Rachael Boland.
Kate and Ian separately arrived at West Tower in style. The couple had treated themselves to luxury transportation for the day, with wedding cars for the groom, the mother of the bride and the bridesmaids, and the bride and her father.
Shooting a West Tower wedding instantly became a hit with us because it is such an elegant wedding venue. The perfect combination of a heritage building with luxurious interiors and set within 8 acres of beautiful Lancashire countryside gave us so many opportunities to take great photographs set against this perfect backdrop.
We must take a second to mention Abbey Studios the videographers for the day. It’s always nice to work with other professionals in the business.
The ceremony and wedding reception…
The ceremony was held in West Tower’s beautiful ballroom which has large windows that flood the room with light and give views over the garden. The neutral décor gives the room a romantic feel and really suited the elegant wedding chic style of Kate and Ian’s simple, yet elegant wedding decoration.
After the ceremony there was a drinks reception outside on the terrace and landscaped gardens. We took the chance to take some group shots and then whisked Kate and Ian away for a their portrait shots around the grounds of West Tower.
We love the little touches at weddings as they reveal something of the couple’s personalities and at Kate and Ian’s wedding, it was their love of music that gave them the idea to use original record sleeves to outline their table plan. They also laid out replica record coasters for their wedding favours. It was so original and fun.
After a sumptuous wedding breakfast it was onto the evening reception which began with a really special first dance. Kate and Ian wowed everyone with a perfectly choreographed dance to their favourite Smiths song.
The evening…
Evening food was in the form of a hog roast and a beautifully tiered cheese cake. Kate an Ian also hired a photo booth (everybody loves a photo booth!) and surprised their guests with live band Agent Smith, who had everybody up onto the dancefloor where many of them remained all evening.
A lovely couple and a wonderfully elegant wedding full of love and laughter. Congratulations to Kate and Ian for getting married and creating such a memorable day. We hope our images will enable you relive it again and again for many years to come.
